Kelly McDermid, RMT
Kelly McDermid attended the Registered Massage Therapist program at Algonquin College and graduated in 2013. From a young age, Kelly wanted to work within the health care field. She became an RMT because she loves being a hands-on part of improving someone‘s health and life – as massage can touch on so many different aspects of health, from physical health, mental health and overall wellbeing.
As a RMT, Kelly is passionate about helping people achieve the best quality of life they can so they are able to enjoy all that they love. In this regard, Kelly strongly supports all kinds of approaches to health care and is passionate about advancing massage therapy as an evidence-based, scientific field.
Kelly’s approach to her practice and with patients is to “never give up.” Kelly believes that everyone is unique and what works for one person may not work for another. If one method doesn’t work, try another and if that doesn’t work try another, and keep going until you find the solution.
Kelly’s massage therapy skill-set includes deep tissue, relaxation/Swedish, prenatal, lymphatic and sport. As an experienced RMT, Kelly’s goal is to tailor the massage to the individual, and she often likes to include lots of stretching, particularly for after home care.
When not at work, Kelly loves playing the piano, reading, and wandering around all the museums and galleries that Ottawa has to offer.
