Meet Gary Pinder, RMT

I graduated from CDI College in 2006 and joined (what was then) the Glebe Chiropractic Clinic and Massage Therapy in 2007.

I like helping people, of course, and also building therapeutic relationships with clients over the years. Working in a multidisciplinary clinic is good for both my professional growth and the benefit of clients. I very much believe that a proper assessment is key to developing an appropriate treatment plan. I enjoy puzzles, so I work with each client from a whole-person, whole-body perspective to figure out and treat the root cause of dysfunction as well as the symptoms. I also enjoy the benefits of living and working in the Glebe.

I moved to Ottawa in 1984 to study English at Carleton University. I completed my BA in 1988 and my MA in 1990.  I then worked as a writer/editor and project manager for a communications company for nine years, so I understand the effects of working at a desk and computer day after day.

Working in a dark room all day still beats working at a desk, but it makes me appreciate the outdoors all the more. I grew up in the country at the southern end of Georgian Bay — surrounded by fields, hills and trees, and a short drive to beautiful beaches. I love hiking, road and mountain biking, and xc skiing. A few times a week, I hang out with the trees in the Arboretum. I played Ultimate frisbee for 30 years and was twice the Canadian National Champion (Master’s division). I also played ice Ultimate and disc golf for several years. I’ve done yoga and tai chi sporadically and try to meditate regularly. I like to exercise my brain as well, doing cryptic crossword puzzles and reading a wide range of fiction and non-fiction.
