Marcus Leung graduated from Queen’s University with a degree in Physical and Health Education in 2018. In 2021, he obtained his Massage Therapy Diploma from the Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy. Marcus has always had an interest in the health and fitness field and upon graduating from Queen’s, discovered a great career path with massage therapy.

Marcus is passionate about helping people and seeing their progress week to week, or month to month. Whether it is helping patients who have experienced acute injuries, may be dealing with chronic pain, or helping with the maintenance of their body or daily movement, there is always something to improve. He enjoys being able to use his knowledge in strength and conditioning and then helping patients to apply it to their self-care regime.

Through massage therapy, Marcus helps patients achieve their specific health and wellness goals, whether it is to decrease pain or experience pain-free movement; increase functionality or independent capacity; decrease or manage symptoms in chronic conditions; or help to implement behavioural changes or positive new habits by introducing concepts and ideas during treatment sessions. Using an evidence-based approach to treatment, Marcus’ goal after each massage therapy treatment is for patients to walk out feeling better than when they walked in, and eventually have them return to their previous activities of daily living without complications.

Marcus’ massage therapy skill-set includes deep tissue manual techniques, joint mobilization, PNF stretching, Swedish massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, relaxation massage and cupping. Patient education is always the primary task and self-care can account for a big portion of a patient’s management of symptoms.

When not at work, Marcus focuses a lot of his spare time training as an amateur competitive weightlifter. He also enjoys reading, sports and spending time with friends as a great way to unwind.
