Kumar Patel, PT
Kumar Patel graduated in 2005 from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in Bangalore, India, with a Bachelor in Physical Therapy and began his physiotherapy career. In 2009, Kumar moved to Ottawa to lay new roots and gain further experience in his chosen career. In 2014, Kumar became registered with Ontario College of Physiotherapists. His interest in sports, his belief in the therapeutic benefits of exercise, and his academic foundation influenced Kumar’s decision to become a Physiotherapist.
Since moving to Ottawa, Kumar has gained physiotherapy experience practicing in a private setting, a long term care environment, as well as retirement facilities. His practice experience includes work with patients who have had traumatic injuries, orthopaedic surgeries, as well as those living with mental and neurological health issues and complex chronic disorders.
Kumar is excited to join the CURAVITA Health Group, Byward location, and to expand his knowledge into the field of musculoskeletal and neurological rehabilitation. He is passionate about helping his patients achieve their individual goals through education, manual therapy and developing unique, patient-centered treatment programs. He encourages patients to actively participate in their treatment and believes in working collaboratively to achieve the best possible results.
Kumar is focused on his continuing professional development and education. He is certified in Graston (Deep Tissue Release) Level1; Functional Dry Needling (FDN) Level 1 (Trigger point dry needling); Selective Functional Movement Assessment Level 1 (SFMA); Concussion Management and Advanced Concussion Management; Vestibular Rehabilitation; The shoulder Complex, The Knee Complex, Elbow, Wrist and Hand Complex by Dr. Bahram Jam; Upper and Lower extremities Acupuncture; Movement with Mobilization Upper and Lower Extremity; Cupping and Cupping with Movement; Shockwave Therapy and Neuro Kinetic Therapy Level 1.
When not at work, Kumar enjoys spending time outdoors, working out, listening to music and watching various sports. In addition, he speaks four languages including English, Hindi, Gujarati and Oriya.
