Products We Like

There are many gadgets and tools out there that are marketed under “health and wellness.” It can be quite daunting when you are trying to figure out what products might be helpful for you. We’ve created a short list of our favourite products which can be beneficial to your health.

1. Back Vitalizers:

The Back Vitalizer support pillow offers multiple ways to relieve back pain. It can be used in two ways. First, you can sit on it, which helps to engage your core muscles and assist in improving your sitting posture. Secondly, you can use it as a lumbar support by placing it behind your lower back. This product can be helpful to people who sit for extended periods or who spend a lot of time in their car. The Back Vitalizer is a product that we have been carrying for a long time in our clinics and that has received a lot of positive feedback from patients.

2. Magnesium:

Magnesium tends to be a nutrient that many people are deficient in. It is a macronutrient that can be helpful for muscle health, migraine sufferers, relaxation, and sleep for some. The brand we carry is Pure Lab which is locally made and distributed. For more benefits of including a magnesium supplement in your routine, check out our blog “How Magnesium Supports Your Body”.

3. Yoga Balls:

Yoga tune-up balls have become very popular and for good reason! They can be very helpful in managing muscle tension that comes with our day-to-day lifestyle of sitting too much. It can be used to relieve muscle knots and mobilize some of our connective tissue called fascia, both of which can be culprits in creating pain and discomfort. These can be useful tools to use between your massage appointments, but they do not replace the work provided by a qualified registered massage therapist. Ask one of our clinic health assistants in the clinic to purchase a set of yoga balls.

4. Biofreeze:

Biofreeze Professional, also known as a magical spray by some of our patients, is one of our most loved products. This spray can help alleviate pain from backaches, arthritis, sore muscles and joints, sprains and strains. The cooling effect of menthol acts as a topical analgesic. It’s a natural pain reliever that soothes minor muscle and joint pain. Talk to your chiropractor and registered massage therapist if Biofreeze may be beneficial for you.

5. Foam Rollers:

Foam rollers can help improve the range of motion and decrease stiffness. They work similarly to yoga balls in helping to relax your muscles. A regular stretching routine combined with using a foam roller, can help you recover fast from your workout or your weekend warrior project. It can be a great addition to your self-care routine but does not replace stretching or the care you receive from your registered massage therapist and chiropractor.

6. Vitamin D:

Vitamin D is key in the regulation of calcium and phosphorus levels in the blood. Both of these are very important in maintaining healthy bones. Vitamin D is made in the body as a reaction to sun exposure. It can also be found in certain foods. During the winter months, with shorter daylight, many choose to supplement with Vitamin D. Some even do so year-round. Some studies suggest that there may be an increased risk associated with low vitamin D and chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, etc. However, the science is constantly evolving and being updated.

If you have any questions as to if these products may be right for you, talk to your chiropractor, physiotherapist, or registered massage therapist.
