New Year, New Benefits!
As we ring in the New Year, most people are also welcoming a renewal of their extended health benefits. This means that your coverage for chiropractic, massage, and physiotherapy resets. It’s a good idea to take some time to review the details of your extended health insurance to ensure that you are making the most of it throughout the year for your entire family. At both of our CURAVITA locations, we are happy to offer many services that are covered by most health insurance benefits.
Most people’s health insurance benefits cover chiropractic care. In most cases, you do not need a referral from a family physician for your chiropractic care to be reimbursed by your insurance. Please review the details of your plan to confirm.
Chiropractic is one of the largest regulated, primary-contact health care professions in Canada. Chiropractic is non-invasive, hands-on health care that focuses on the musculoskeletal system. Chiropractors use a manual approach to treatment while providing a diagnosis and preventive care for disorders related to the spine, pelvis, nervous system and joints.
Many insurance companies also offer benefits covering massage therapy, as long as the therapists are registered. All of our massage therapists at CURAVITA Health Group are registered. Please check with your insurance company to see if they require a physician’s referral for massage therapy to be reimbursed.
Massage can help relieve chronic muscle tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical stress, promote faster healing of injured muscles, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Your Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) will assist you in restoring, maintaining and enhancing your well-being.
We recently expanded our scope of services to patients to include physiotherapy at both of our CURAVITA locations. The majority of insurance plans include coverage for physiotherapy but may require a note from your family physician to access that coverage. Please check with your insurance provider to make sure you meet their requirements.
Physiotherapy is a hands-on approach helps prevent and treat injury and disease by emphasizing the promotion of mobility and function. Our physiotherapists use a holistic approach to enhance or restore the function of multiple body systems, improving health, wellness and quality of life.
Custom Foot Orthotics
Most extended health care plans include partial coverage for custom-made foot orthotics. Many insurance companies will require a medical doctor’s prescription. All of our chiropractors are trained to assess your feet, ankles, and gait as well as diagnose any foot or ankle issues you may have. After a thorough biomechanical and gait assessment, the chiropractor will take a 3D laser scan of your foot to be sent to a lab. Orthotics have changed a lot over the years: the casting method, the examination process, and the manufacturing have evolved making them thinner, stable, strong and they add very little weight to the shoe. Orthotics can be made for all sorts of different footwear such as soccer cleats, skates, winter boots, sandals, and even high heels.
Custom foot orthotics can be an important component in addressing your low back, hip, knee, or foot pain. Orthotics support the arches of the foot and enhance the biomechanics of your feet and body. The chiropractor will work with you to determine if foot orthotics are the right fit for you.
