Meet Dr. Sasha Hamid, chiropractor.
I started my career as a chiropractor on the CURAVITA healthcare team at the original clinic (the Glebe Chiropractic Clinic and Massage Therapy Centre), back in 2006. I was actually a patient at the Glebe Chiropractic Clinic before I began Chiropractic College in 2002. I came back to Ottawa after completing my studies to start my career alongside the same amazing team that continues to provide MSK care to my family and myself.
I currently maintain a busy full-time practice at the CURAVITA Byward location and also have an active leadership and mentorship role as a Senior Associate. I provide chiropractic care in a collaborative environment alongside our Registered Massage Therapists and Physiotherapists while acting as a mentor in the formalized onboarding process for all new Chiropractors, Registered Massage Therapists, Physiotherapists and Clinic Health Assistants who join the CURAVITA team.
I absolutely love being a chiropractor and can’t imagine doing anything else! I always wanted a career in healthcare, but most importantly I wanted to make a direct impact on the healthcare quality of people’s lives. The human body is a fascinating machine and to use my skill-set to solve various MSK challenges while helping others is a job like no other.
Apart from adjusting patients, the best part of CURAVITA is the people. I work alongside the most amazing professional team and have had the privilege of meeting people from various backgrounds who do all kinds of different work. I have learned so much about Canada from their important behind-the-scenes roles that keep our country going.
When I am not at work, discovering great new local businesses and restaurants is time well spent with my family and friends. We live in a wonderful neighbourhood close to the Byward Market and getting to know our neighbours and becoming part of a growing community has been rewarding.
Ottawa is a wonderful city to call home and my family and I enjoy making the most of what the NCR has to offer. Some of our favourite activities are cycling, snowshoeing, skiing and exploring the outdoors.
Full days adjusting patients and raising a young family is physical work. To keep my body and soul healthy, physical activity is important. But fitting it in requires time management, and accountability helps keep me on track. In my case, my best friend and I took up boxing over a year ago and we have been hooked ever since! Twice a week we look forward to punching, skipping, and sweating away the stress that everyday life can bring.
Ottawa is the city I chose to start my career, plant roots and the place I now call home. Vacations in our household usually involve travelling out west, up north or out east. Our families are spread out all over the country so getting together involves some planning in advance. The largest part of my extended family is in France. It is one of my favourite places to visit and a place that holds fond memories of my childhood. We just welcomed our second child into our family this fall and are excited to return to France in 2020 for some new adventures as a family of four!
