Meet Ben Tobali, Registered Physiotherapist

I am a Registered Physiotherapist at CURAVITA Health Group, Glebe location. I collaborate with the clinic’s chiropractors and massage therapists in order to provide optimal patient care. I have been a practicing Physiotherapist for almost 10 years.

What I like best about my role at CURAVITA is working with my patients to help them achieve all of their physical activity goals, and improve their overall health and well-being. I also enjoy working with other health care professionals in a multi-disciplinary clinic which allows for different approaches and problem-solving perspectives.

Outside of work, I very much enjoy volunteering to give back to the physiotherapy profession. I am involved in advocacy through my role as an executive member for the Eastern Ontario District of the Ontario Physiotherapy Association. I am also engaged in the regulatory side through an exam development role with the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators.

I have engaged in opportunities to be a medical volunteer at high level sporting events. The largest and most exciting event I’ve volunteered at to date was the Pan American Games when it was held in Toronto in 2015. The next big event I’ll be a volunteer Physiotherapist at is the 2020 World Figure Skating Championships coming up in March, which is being held in Montreal.

I also enjoy being active by going for outdoor runs, as well as strength training at the gym. Skating the Rideau Canal is one of my favourite winter activities in Ottawa. In the summer I really enjoy hiking in Gatineau park – my favourite trail is the Luskville Falls trail as it’s challenging and offers a great view.

Reading is a great way for me to relax and unwind after a long day. I recently read the very interesting book Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari, and I’m currently reading his second book Homo Deus.

My all-time favourite television show is NBC’s The Office. Even though the show concluded a number of years ago I continue to watch re-runs on Netflix from time to time.

My wife and I love to travel. Last year we went to Paris to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We also enjoyed a relaxing week in Punta Cana in December. We are looking forward to planning our next getaway. My favourite place that I’ve travelled to is Israel. The history and culture is amazing, and I loved floating in the Dead Sea!
